casa

i adore my yard - it's a repository for odd, old, and half-broken things.

this is the backyard with a bit more context:

harvest

the pool of pictures from which to choose was rather limited. thus: a sample of one of the better squash harvests we've had at the farm.

(one of the things i will most readily admit to liking about florida is the mad unseasonality of vegetable growing. winter squash today, and i ought to be able to pull together a farm-grown ratatouille by next week or the week after. hello, november watermelons.)

inaugural photos: my annual week of fall

this is the abandoned swimming pool at cranbrook (a cookie for you if you recognized it on your own!) which i visited today for the first time in a couple years. it has become almost entirely grown over -- the walls are covered in ivy and surrounded by trees on one side and a field of goldenrod and scrubby things around most of the rest of it. the side door has been thoroughly barricaded (the broken plywood has been replaced) and the cinder block for climbing over the wall is gone. but, it remains pink and creepy. i wonder if people still sneak in. i did find an empty guinness bottle.
